Sometimes we want to save the world, sometimes others expect us to, sometimes others depend on us to, but sometimes the world was never ours to save. Sometimes the best thing we can do is to do the best our abilities will allow us in the most sincere manner to do good. And trust that is sufficient to reach the summit. Don’t let your heart sink because you did not achieve your hopes and dreams, but let it rest in plain sight of Allah (swt); perhaps you have not yet reached the exit on the road that leads to the fulfilment of your hopes and dreams.
“…The worldly life is nothing but a material of delusion. Compete with each other in proceeding towards forgiveness from your Lord and to Paradise the width of which is like the width of the sky and the earth. It has been prepared for those who believe in Allah and His messengers. That is the bounty of Allah; He gives it to whomsoever He Wills and Allah is the Lord of the great bounty. No calamity befalls the earth of your own selves, but it is (pre-destined) in a Book before We bring it into being, indeed it is easy for Allah. So that you may neither grieve on what has escaped you, nor over-rejoice on what He has given you. And Allah does not love any self-admirer, over-proud.”
Surah Al Hadid (57), Verses 20 – 23
